One killed in Route 21 crash near Khedive
KHEDIVE – One person died Thursday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Route 21 in Khedive near the location of another crash Tuesday.
The crash occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m. in Cumberland Township, about a half mile east of Crees Road, the site of Tuesday morning’s crash.
Cumberland Township police Chief Craig Miller said one person was killed and two others were injured.
Route 21 was closed for several hours while police investigated and crews removed the vehicles from the scene.
Greene County Deputy Coroner Mary Lewis was at the scene, and township police were working with a state police accident reconstruction specialist in the investigation.
Two cars and a tri-axle dump truck carrying gravel were involved in the crash. The truck was toppled onto its side and the two cars had heavy damage.
It’s the second crash in that stretch of highway three days. Marion Rich, 87, suffered critical injuries when she was struck by a pickup truck while pulling out of her driveway at 1603 E. Roy Furman Highway. Cumberland Township police are investigating that crash with the help of state police. Rich remained in critical condition Thursday afternoon at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
