A Calfornia man who also has an Erie address was arrested Thursday on charges including theft and receiving stolen property filed by both California Borough and California University of Pennsylvania police.
Donavan Yusep Rosendary, 24, of 670 Park St., California, was arrested on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and disorderly conduct filed by California police at the office of District Judge Joshua Kanalis in connection with an Aug. 14 incident at his apartment building. Cal U. police charged him with retail theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing items from the bookstore at Natali Student Center between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4.
Borough police received a complaint from Garett Hepple regarding the theft of tools from the carport area of the house while he was doing an inspection of the apartment building. Hepple went to a pawn shop in the borough and learned Rosendary brought in an impact drill and received cash for it.
University police said Rosendary was apprehended Sept. 4 after he allegedly put four textbooks in his backpack and left without paying. Police said he also was seen on store surveillance Aug. 31 stealing three textbooks, and again spotted stealing textbooks Sept. 12. The books were valued at $2,054.
Rosendary was arraigned before Kanalis on both sets of charges and placed in Washington County jail on $100,000 bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday before Kanalis.
Monday on the Cal U. charges and Oct. 19 on the borough charges.
