WEST CHESTER (AP) – The director of the company that runs Pennsylvania university’s bookstore is apologizing for selling a 6-inch inflatable “perfect female specimen” doll.

The Delaware County Daily Times reports Friday that an apology letter was emailed to West Chester University students and faculty on Monday.

The letter was from Donna Snyder of Student Services Inc.

About 40 students protested the selling of the doll, prompting four remaining models of the female version of the doll to be pulled from shelves last month. A male equivalent had already sold out.

Snyder says she was “very surprised and personally appalled” by the doll, which was being sold as a gag gift.

The packaging showed a woman clad in underwear and tells purchasers to punch the doll to blow up the self-inflating figure.
