Painters of the past
Observer-Reporter’s Chartiers Valley office in Canonsburg closed in 1971, several boxes of negatives were shipped to the main office in Washington. Unfortunately, the negatives were not catalogued, so we have no information about them, and in some cases, only the year or range of years in which they were made.
This week’s Mystery Photo was taken sometime in the late 1960s or early 1970s. The young people are scraping, painting and cleaning windows in two rooms, one of which has a long row of hooks on the wall. Could this be or have been a school?
We’re hoping our readers can help us identify the people in the picture, what group they might have belonged to, and where and when the photo was taken.
If you think you can help solve this puzzle, email Park Burroughs, retired executive editor, at pburroughs@observer-reporter.com, or call and leave a message for him along with your telephone number at 724-222-2200, extension 2400.
With a little luck and assistance from our readers, we should be able to paint a picture of what happened in next Monday’s newspaper.
