The Greene County Department of Recreation will add “Turbo Kick” to its selection of exercise programs beginning Oct. 19.

“Turbo Kick” is a fast-paced, high-energy cardio program billed as kickboxing with an edge.

Participants will receive the full benefits of kickboxing accompanied by a few extra bursts of 90-second intensity intervals, all set to the latest dance music.

“Turbo Kick” focuses on relieving stress, burning calories, losing weight and building cardiovascular health.

Classes will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday through Nov. 16 at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Waynesburg.

Individual classes by certified instructor Ashley Donaldson can be attended at a cost of $8 per class. Registration is not required, and no discounts will be offered.

No class will be held Nov. 11 because of Veterans Day.

Certified instructor Meghan Phillips is leading another session of “CIZE” every Sunday through Oct. 25, as well as “PiYo” classes every Thursday through Oct. 29.

Billed as the “end of exercise,” “CIZE” is a newer dance fitness program that breaks down a full dance routine into step-by-step moves. While learning the dance steps, participants will burn fat and calories.

The cardio program is recommended for any fitness level, and no prior dance experience is required.

“PiYo” is a hybrid athletic workout combining Pilates moves with yoga poses in continuous, fluid movement.

Features of “PiYo” include deep breathing, stretching, strength training, conditioning and dynamic movement.

The program also will help participants build and add flexibility to muscle, increase cardiac health and the range of motion in joints, improve balance and energy and reduce stress.

Attendees should bring their own yoga mats.

The fitness classes are sponsored by the Greene County commissioners.
