Pittsburgh woman who used oxygen found dead after fire
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Investigators were still attempting to determine what caused the fire and explosion at a Pittsburgh home as well as what exactly killed the oxygen-using resident who lived there.
The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office identified the dead woman as 57-year-old Kimberly Johnson.
She was pulled from the rubble after neighbors reported hearing an explosion and fire that badly damaged her home. Johnson died a short time later at West Penn Hospital.
Neighbors tell police the victim was overweight, immobile and used oxygen.
Several passersby tried to help the woman, including some who initially heard her talking inside the home, but none were able to get inside because of the flames.
The medical examiner says the cause and manner of Johnson’s death are still pending. The cause of the fire was still being investigated, too.
