Clarksville Area Lions Club and Jefferson-Morgan LEO Club students will be at Giant Eagle in Dry Tavern from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 17, collecting monetary donations, used glasses and unused hearing aids for Whit Cane Day. People can come and meet Tammy Cross, a new Lions Club member. Cross has been blind since birth and will be answering questions on how to treat a blind or sight-impaired person.

Harveys-Aleppo Grange in Graysville will recognize all veterans, those who served during war and peace, at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the grange. Pins and certificates will be presented to veterans for their service. Refreshments will be served. Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Waynesburg Borough will be hosting their 8th annual Halloween Spooktacular downtown merchant costume contest from 8 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, on the courthouse steps. You must be employed within the borough or have a company within the Chamber of Commerce to participate. Cash prizes for the scariest, prettiest, funniest, best group and best overall costume will be presented at noon on the courthouse steps.
