Applebee’s project advances
Plans for an Applebee’s Restaurant in Franklin Township are advancing, even though the project is behind schedule.
Applebee’s was hoping to start work on the building in mid-May or June. Apple American Group LLC ran into setbacks while finalizing the appropriate approvals and easements.
An agreement with Penmark for parking off-site was one of the major issues the company had to address. It was recently resolved. The restaurant will be built in front of Greene Plaza on Route 21 next to Taco Bell. This site only allows for 25 to 30 parking spaces on-site. The agreement allows for additional parking in spaces available in the Greene Plaza parking lot.
“They got the issue resolved,” said Steve Coss, Franklin Township building code officer.
The company has to finish a few more agreements and easements before breaking ground.
Coss said the company still has to submit an easement for proposed grading and site improvement measures, an agreement for access onto Miller Lane, an agreement with the traffic signal district and an agreement for a water storm system.
“We have the building and drawing submitted and approved,” Coss said. “As soon as these steps are taken, we can start moving forward.”
No exact dates were given for completion. Once construction begins, it has been estimated that it will take 105 days to complete the project.
