Annual ‘Spooktacular’ set for Oct. 30
Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce and Waynesburg Borough will host its eighth annual Halloween “Spooktacular” Friday, Oct. 30.
The event features a costume contest for employees of Waynesburg businesses or companies that are chamber of commerce members.
Those participating are asked to be at the courthouse steps between 8 and 9 a.m. to be judged. Those unable to attend at that time are asked to contact the chamber or borough office to arrange a visit to their places of business.
All participants are asked to return to the courthouse at noon for the announcement of the winners and presentation of awards.
Cash prizes will be given to the scariest, prettiest, funniest, best group and best overall costumes.
The best overall winner and the best group prize winners will receive each receive a $100 cash prize, and the scariest, prettiest, funniest and most original winners will receive $50 cash prizes.
In addition to the cash prize, the best overall winner will receive a custom carved pumpkin donated by Greene County Sheriff Brian Tennant and carved by artists Amanda and Jennifer Stauffer of Ruff Creek Crafts and Antiques.
Each participant will receive a treat bag sponsored by First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Greene County. Medals will be given to the second and third place winners in each category other than best overall.
Awards and cash prize sponsors are Jeff Grimes for Judge, Ken and Caitlin Carlisle of Farmers Insurance, Laick Design, Lisa Brown Allstate Insurance Agency, Lou Dayich for Judge, Mark IV Office Supply, McCracken Pharmacy and Rhodes and Hammers Printing.
Lunch and bake sale will be held by St. Ann Church on the courthouse steps.
