A Washington County jury rendered a split verdict Thursday in the case of a West Virginia man charged last year with theft and receiving stolen property.

Cody Nethken, 29, of Maidsville, was found guilty of stealing a Taurus .22-caliber firearm and a Springfield .45-caliber from a home in East Bethlehem Township where he had been hired by a contractor to perform work in July 2014.

Jurors found Nethken innocent of stealing a Glock .40-caliber weapon, cash, ammunition and a gun magazine.

Presiding at the trial was Judge Gary Gilman, who has not yet sentenced the defendant. Nethken remains free on bond.
