PITTSBURGH (AP) — Two people — including one in a wheelchair — have been killed after they were run over by a Pittsburgh-area transit they had just exited, after being knocked into its path by another vehicle.

Port Authority of Allegheny County spokesman Jim Ritchie says the incident happened on or near the University of Pittsburgh campus about 2:15 p.m. Monday. There were no immediate indications that either were students.

Ritchie says the passengers got off the bus and were crossing the street when they were hit by another vehicle. That knocked them down and put them in the path of the rear wheels of the bus as it pulled away.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the names of the victims and says he doesn’t know whether they know each other though “it appears they were together.”
