The Greene County Walk to End Alzheimer’s is planning its second annual “Paint the Town Purple” event.
All residents and business owners in Greene County are invited to join in the community event from Sept. 12 to 26 to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s and the upcoming charity walk.
The “Paint the Town Purple” is designed to get people ready for the Greene County Walk that will be held Sept. 26, at Wana B Park in Carmichaels.
The two-week event encourages businesses and people to “go purple” to show support for the walk by wearing purple or displaying purple ribbons or bows on buildings. The Greene County Walk to End Alzheimer’s Walk Committee also suggests painting windows purple, flying purple balloons or signs and showcasing purple flowers.
People and teams can register for the walk later this month by going to act.alz.org/greene2015 and find more information on the website. Check-in for the Sept. 26 walk is at 9 a.m. with the opening ceremonies beginning a half-hour later. More information about the upcoming walk is available at that website.
