MOUNT PLEASANT, Pa. (AP) — Police say a western Pennsylvania woman who claimed she was robbed of $70 made up part of the story to cover up a drug deal gone bad that was witnessed by her 12-year-old daughter.

Thirty-five-year-old Michael Pilato III remains jailed on robbery and other charges because police say he told them he intended to steal seven individual dose bags of heroin from 34-year-old Bonnie Sue Wilson in Mount Pleasant on Aug. 26.

But Wilson was charged Wednesday because police say Pilato didn’t just steal $70 as Wilson claimed, but that he ripped her off for that amount because he couldn’t afford the drugs.

Police say Wilson’s daughter told them Wilson’s boyfriend punched Wilson in the face to make the robbery claim seem real.

Wilson, who remains jailed, says the girl and Pilato are lying.
