SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) – Louisiana police said a 28-year-old man was killed after shooting at an officer during a chase and brandishing a handgun at officers when the chase ended.

He’s identified as Mohamed Ibrahim of Shreveport.

A police news release said officers from Shreveport, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Centenary College police department fired at Ibrahim Sunday.

Authorities said three Shreveport officers and one sheriff’s deputy are on administrative leave during the investigation.

Steven Almeda, who lives in the area, tells The Times he thinks at least 30 rounds were fired. He said it sounded like a string of firecrackers going off.

Ibrahim’s father, Hassan Ibrahim, and brother, Ahmad Ibrahim, told KTBS-TV Ibrahim was hospitalized for schizophrenia and had delusions people wanted to kill him.
