CANONSBURG
Woman assaulted: James Cole, 45, of 251 Glenn Ave., Canonsburg, is being charged by borough police with simple assault and harassment, accused of striking his girlfriend, Kalie Liggett, in the face about 11:50 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of West Pike Street, police said.
CECIL
Man assaulted: Mario Brown, 27, of Birmingham, Ala., was charged by township police with aggravated assault, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, court records state. Police accuse Brown of striking his boyfriend, Teric Seales, with a dumbbell, biting his arm and destroying his laptop about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in a hotel room in the 3000 block of Horizon Vue Drive. Brown is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Ethan Ward.
McDONALD
Theft report: Christopher Marshall of Burgettstown told borough police about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday his vehicle was broken into overnight and tools, a phone and data tracing equipment were stolen while it was parked outside his residence at 96 Stella St., police said.
SOUTH STRABANE
Restaurant damaged: Eva Engle, 78, of 232 Trinity Drive, South Strabane Township, escaped injury Wednesday when she applied the gas rather than the brakes as she was pulling her vehicle into Ponderosa, 1010 Trinity Circle, and it damaged a fence near the entrance to the business, township police said.
UNION
Man charged: Michael G. Barton, 41, of 38 Elrama Ave., Elrama, was charged Friday by Southwest Regional police with possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, stemming from an incident on Aug. 11 in Union Township. A police report contained no further details. The charges will be sent by summons from District Judge James Ellis’ office.
