Pennsylvania police chief dies in gun accident

BESSEMER (AP) – State police say a Pennsylvania police chief died when he was shot while cleaning his gun.

Bessemer Police Chief Thomas Macri was shot in the chest Sunday afternoon while cleaning his .40-caliber pistol. The 56-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Investigators say there is no sign of foul play and it appears the shooting was accidental.
