HARRISBURG – Attorneys for state Attorney General Kathleen Kane said they’re frustrated with the investigation that led to her being charged with perjury and other crimes.

In a statement Friday, the lawyers called on the courts to launch an inquiry into leaks they say have jeopardized her right to hold elected office and receive a fair trial.

They cite a search warrant executed Thursday at Kane’s Harrisburg office. They said it was clear reporters weretipped off because they were waiting there when the warrant was served.

Kane is the first Democrat and first woman to be elected as Pennsylvania’s attorney general

She was charged Aug. 6 with perjury, obstruction and other offenses involving what Montgomery County prosecutors said was the leak of confidential information from a 2009 grand jury investigation.
