Lions Club honors students of month
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Celine Nicole Monica and Brady Hogue were selected by the high school faculty as the Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for September.
Monica of Prosperity, the daughter of Linda and Joe Monica, has a 4.0 grade point average.
She is vice president of the Leo Club, treasurer of the physics club and is a member of the National Honor Society, varsity club, Spanish club and alpha club. She has received awards in English, history, math, accounting, Spanish and physics.
Monica is a four-year letterman in varsity basketball and has been co-captain of the varsity basketball team for three years.
She was named to the section IV-AA Finest Fifty for girls’ basketball, has played basketball for four years with the Washington Impact in the Amateur Athletic Union Basketball League and participated for three years in the Budd Grebb Outdoor Basketball League in California.
Monica tutors elementary students during the school year and works with Little Dribblers during the winter.
She plans to attend college and major in engineering.
Hogue of Waynesburg, the son of Steven and Ericka Hogue, has a 3.75 grade point average.
He has served as president of the drama club and participates in band and ensemble. Hogue also is a letterman in chorus and has been selected for the district and regional choirs. He is a member of the art club.
Hogue participated in the music camp at Penn State University and is a soccer coach and soccer referee. He plans to attend college and become a music teacher.
