Date: Sept. 22

Action: John Stickle, township manager, was authorized to send a letter to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection opposing the erosion and sediment control permit application of Range Resources for the proposed Munce well site. According to the letter, Range Resources does not have a valid permit from the township to conduct activities associated with the permit request because the conditional use approval, given Sept. 28, 2010, has expired.

“To date, and with the expiration of nearly five years from the original approval, Range Resources has failed to obtain a grading permit, building permit, or certificate of occupancy, nor has it received any extension of the conditional use approval,” the letter states.

The letter also states the approval was given for one well and the permit submitted by Range Resources requests permission for the drilling of 10 wells.

Supervisors approved an amendment declaring the township’s current gas and oil well zoning ordinance invalid. The amendment gives the township 180 days to investigate and prepare a new ordinance.

Next meeting: 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the municipal building.
