Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush will be at Southpointe II Tuesday afternoon to reveal his national energy plan, a key element in his promise to improve the economy by 4 percent.

The former Florida governor will speak outside the Rice Energy Inc. headquarters being built on Woodcliff Drive, confirmed Kim Price, manager of external communications for Rice. The speech will not be open to the public.

“We’re super-excited they’ve decided to showcase this event at Rice,” Price said.

The Bush team will provide a look at the plan to donors the day before. The candidate will address media and Rice employees, who number 360.

Speaking on Fox News Thursday night, Bush said, “You have to grow the economy at 4 percent, rather than this new normal of 2 percent.”

Bush is among more than a dozen GOP candidates for the White House. He is the son of George H.W. Bush, the 41st president of the United States, and the brother of George W. Bush, the 43rd president.

Rice Energy is an oil and natural gas developer that drills in only three counties. But they are bountiful counties: Washington, Greene and Belmont in Ohio.

The company is based at 400 Woodcliff Drive, but bound for 500 Woodcliff. Rice will relocate into the Zenith Ridge III building, which is under construction slightly up the hill from where it now operates.

Rice will occupy all 150,000 square feet of that structure, three times its current space. Early February is the target for opening.
