WAYNESBURG – A Carmichaels man who pleaded guilty more than a year ago to indecent assault of an 11-year-old girl was sentenced Tuesday to nine months to two years in jail.

Larry Francis Conard, 68, of Lot 25 Route 21 Mobile Home Park, who already spent more than 14 months in jail while waiting to be sentenced, is now eligible for parole since he was given credit for time served.

“I’m sorry, that’s for sure,” he said during his sentencing Tuesday before Greene County President Judge Farley Toothman.

Conard was charged in 2014 for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, whom he occasionally babysat, at his residence multiple times between 2012 and 2013.

He accepted a plea deal from Greene County District Attorney’s office in December 2014 instead of going to trial. In exchange for reduced charges, Conard pleaded guilty to indecent assault of a person under 13 years old and indecent exposure. He also plead no contest to corruption of minors.

In a separate but related case, Conard pleaded no contest to intimidation of a witness and harassment to two adult victims, including his ex-wife, Alice Conard. According to court documents, Conard allegedly threatened his ex-wife and another adult victim after the alleged sexual assault was reported to police.

According to police records, the child’s guardian reported the assault after the child told her about the incidents in 2013. The child allegedly told her guardian Conard told her to never tell anyone what he did to her because he would get in trouble, according to court documents.

The child’s guardian told police Conard admitted to her what he did, saying “the devil made him do it and that he has been saved at church after confession to a preacher,” according to court documents.

Conard, who was free on bond since December, lives in Rices Landing and will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life since he was found to be a sexually violent predator.

He is not to have to contact with his ex-wife or the minor victim and will have to pay all court costs and a $1,750 fine. He was also ordered to avoid alcohol during his probation and undergo mental health evaluations.
