Cornerstone Care to hold ‘Paint and Pop’ fundraiser
WAYNESBURG – A special “Paint & Pop” event to celebrate Mother’s Day and raise money for Cornerstone Care’s Smile for Life Oral Health Outreach Project will give mothers and their children a chance to showcase their artistic skills.
The event hosted by Cornerstone Care will be held from noon to 3 p.m. April 30, at First Baptist Church Social Hall in Waynesburg.
Cornerstone Care’s Smile for Life Oral Health Outreach Project provides classroom-based oral health education and mobile dental services to Head Start programs and school districts throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.
“This will be a fun event that parents can participate in along with their children,” said Donna Simpson, outreach department manager. “The kids will be painting their own pictures that they can give as gifts on Mother’s Day. And while they are busy designing their Mother’s Day cards, the adults will be busy creating their own paintings.”
The children’s schedule includes painting from noon to 1 p.m. followed by designing special Mother’s Day cards from 1 to 3 p.m.
The adults will paint from 1 to 3 p.m. Pop and snacks, as well as paints and supplies, will be provided.
The event will also feature Chinese auction items as well as a 50/50 drawing.
“We have some really nice Chinese auction items, including a Keurig coffee maker and various baskets, that will be available during the event,” Simpson said.
She said the event is important because it will raise money to help prevent tooth decay and improve child dental health.
“Tooth decay is the most prevalent chronic disease among children, even though it is largely preventable,” she said.
Simpson said oral health is not only vital to maintaining good overall health, it also can affect a child’s confidence and ability to concentrate.
Cornerstone Care’s Smile for Life Program was created to ensure children learn at an early age the importance of healthy teeth and gums and to provide the tools they needed to prevent decay.
Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for children ages 5 to 12. Call 724-833-2170 or visit www.CornerstoneCareEvents.com.
