Cameron Road reopens to traffic
A section of Cameron Road in South Strabane Township reopened Friday after being closed for more than four months to repair a slide.
Township Supervisor Laynee Zipko confirmed the road opened to traffic.
A section of the road that connects Route 136/East Beau Street to Route 19 closed Dec. 1 for construction of a retaining wall, repairs and to prevent further sliding.
The reopening was delayed several times due to unforeseen problems at the site, including poor soil.
At their meeting Tuesday, supervisors weren’t sure when work would be complete.
The project, initially bid at $219,155, will now cost the township $449,235.
