‘Never Too Late’ outreach aimed at local youth
On Point, a group of parents, teachers, concerned citizens and community leaders, is hosting “Never Too Late,” an outreach to encourage youths who are often exposed to drugs, alcohol, bullying, dysfunctional homes and peer pressure to make positive choices in their lives.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. April 30 in the Washington High School gymnasium.
“Never Too Late” is the culmination of weeklong school assemblies at Washington, California, Fort Cherry, Bentworth, Chartiers, Beth-Center and Avella high schools, featuring youth speaker Randy DonGiovanni, a 1977 graduate of Trinity High School, who has served as a keynote speaker at rallies, assemblies, retreats, camps and college campuses across the nation for more than 30 years.
Former “American Idol” contestant Adam Brock, a graduate of Trinity High School, will handle the music at the weekend outreach, which will include a stomp team, a rapper, free food and drinks and several prizes that will be raffled, including a flat-screen television.
DonGiovanni aims to give students a message that will empower them to overcome negative influences in their lives and challenge them to reach their full potential.
Tickets for the outreach will be made available to participating schools, but are not required for entry. Students from all schools in Washington County and beyond are invited to attend.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
