Motorcyclist killed in head-on crash in Pennsylvania

DERRY TOWNSHIP (AP) – Authorities say a 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he hit a vehicle head-on in Derry Township.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office says Chad M. Gates of Blairsville was riding his motorcycle shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday when he struck a Jeep Cherokee. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Information about the other driver was not immediately available.

The coroner’s office says Gates was not wearing a helmet. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

State police are investigating.
