Rep. Ortitay announces fire, ambulance grants

More than $240,000 in state grants has been dispersed to emergency response organizations in Allegheny and Washington counties in the 46th state House district. State Rep. Jason Ortitay, R-South Fayette, announced nine volunteer fire companies in Washington County were awarded $101,660, each receiving between $12,000 and $13,790.

Burgettstown Volunteer Fire Department, Canton Township Fire Company & Rescue Squad; three volunteer fire departments in Cecil Township, McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, Midway Volunteer Fire Department, Mt. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company and Slovan Volunteer Fire Department were awarded grants.

The funds are raised through slot machine gaming and awarded through the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
