Speed and alcohol were factors in a crash on Tyrol Boulevard that killed 51-year-old Blanchard L. Key of Monessen Thursday near the border with Rostraver Township, authorities said.

The Westmoreland County coroner’s office said Key was declared dead at the scene at 11:40 p.m. after veering off the road and crashing into a utility pole about 10:30 p.m.

Key reportedly was wearing a seatbelt, and the vehicle’s airbag deployed.

Authorities said funeral arrangements were being made with Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home.
