Woman charged
WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg woman was charged with robbing a man at her borough home Friday afternoon after meeting him earlier in the day at the Rain Day festival.
Jolene L. Thomas, 35, 243 S. Morgan St., was at the festival when she met Dylan Yoders and invited him back to her residence for dinner around 4:45 p.m., Waynesburg police said. She allegedly asked him to come into her bedroom where she asked him if she could borrow money, police said.
Yoders told police he pulled $60 from his wallet and Thomas took it and stuck it in her bra before allegedly punching him in the eye twice and scratching his eye, according to court documents.
Yoders asked for the money back, police said, but Thomas refused to return it.
Police said Thomas’ story to police was slightly different. She told police a third party, Nick Demaske, invited Yoders to the residence and all three of them were in her bedroom. She said Yoders was swearing at her before she hit him.
“Thomas swears that she did not take his money,” police wrote in the complaint.
Police said they interviewed Demaske, whose account of the incident lined up with what Yoders told them.
Thomas was charged with robbery, theft, simple assault and harassment. She is being held at Greene County jail on $2,500 bond and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Thursday before District Judge Lee Watson.
