AVALON (AP) – Officials in Western Pennsylvania say someone hacked into a borough’s police pension fund and stole at least $100,000.

Avalon Solicitor Megan Ott says officials last week became aware of two unauthorized transfers from the pension fund. She says the thefts were done by hacking or impersonating a borough employee to facilitate the transactions.

She says none of the current pensioners will be affected by the theft.

The borough is conducting an audit of all of their accounts to see if others could have been hacked.

The theft remains under investigation.
