An Oklahoma man is in Washington County jail on $1 million bond after he was returned to the county to face charges for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl almost two years ago in Amwell Township.

Christopher Chad Gammon, 31, of Duncan, was arraigned Tuesday night before District Judge Traci McDonald on charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual assault, corruption of minors and simple assault. Trooper Thomas Kress, who filed the charges against Gammon last year, said he was detained in Texas by U.S. marshals and brought back by Washington County Chief Detective James McElhaney and Detective Patrick Leary.

The girl reportedly was contacted by Gammon on Facebook and the two conversed with each other. She told Gammon she was 15 and he told her he was 28. The two exchanged telephone numbers and then talked on the phone, according to court documents.

Gammon came to the girl’s home after the two allegedly made plans to meet. While at her home, Gammon allegedly pulled the girl’s hair and grabbed her by the throat to the point she could not breathe. He reportedly forced the girl to have sex with him several times, at one point holding her hands behind her back. Gammon ignored the girl’s request to leave her home and also allegedly hit her on the cheek.

Kress noted in court documents Gammon is a transient worker who has multiple addresses. Gammon is a known aggravated sexual offender, Kress indicated.

Gammon faces an Aug. 16 preliminary hearing before District Judge Ethan Ward.
