Fire damages Franklin Township home
Firefighters responded to a house fire about 12:30 p.m. Thursday at 2680 Mt. Morris Road in Franklin Township that heavily damaged the residence.
Waynesburg-Franklin fire Chief Jeff Marshall said no one was injured in the fire, which was mostly contained to one side of the house.
“There was major damage, but it was insured,” he said.
Marshall said the home is owned by Tracey Russell, who was inside with her daughter and one other resident at the time of the fire, but everyone made it out safely.
He said Russell told emergency dispatchers she heard a smoke alarm ringing in the house before she noticed flames in the living room.
“The fire originated in that room,” Marshall said.
Marshall said the cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the state fire marshal.
Jefferson firefighters and EMS crews assisted at the scene.
