WAYNESBURG – Though it didn’t rain July 29 for Rain Day, many people came to enjoy the day of festivities in downtown Waynesburg and participate in its contests and events.

The Rain Day Special Events Committee Thursday announced results of judging that took place as part of the Rain Day celebration:

• Umbrella contest - Johni Yeager, 7, of Waynesburg, first place;

• Window decorating - Ruff Creek Crafts and Antiques, first; 5 Kidz Kandy, second; Artbeat, third; Ben McMillen Photography, honorable mention;

• Jack McCracken Award for community service - Sister Audrey Quinn and Sister Sue Fazzini;

Baby Rain Day contestant winners:

• Prince - Cale John-Vester Hugo, son of Areshayna Hugo and John Seamon of Waynesburg;

• Princess - Kaylee Rose Scott, daughter of Brittany and Zachary Scott of Graysville;

• King - Aaron Renner, son of Meghan and Jason Renner of Crucible;

• Queen - Bexley Humble, daughter of Jess and John Humble of Waynesburg;

• Best decorated Baby Rain Day can - Aaron Renner;

Without rain, the official tally of the number of days it rained in Waynesburg July 29 now stands at 114 out of 143 years.
