Washington police are investigating the reported stabbing of a 25-year-old city man as he walked from his home in the 1000 block of Idaho Street to a Canton Township convenience store on Henderson Avenue.

Police learned that Shea Stoner was walking at an unknown location when he was approached by a newer, black Ford Mustang that reportedly had smoked taillights. A person got out of the vehicle and tried to get the backpack Stoner was carrying, police said. Stoner was then stabbed in the stomach.

Police were not able to talked with Stoner, who was taken by private vehicle to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

Police searched the area for the vehicle but it was not located.
