McKeesport man charged in fatal Forward Township shooting
Authorities are searching for a McKeesport man charged with homicide in connection with a shooting outside a bar in Forward Township that killed a Belle Vernon man and wounded two women early Saturday.
Allegheny County detectives wrote in an affidavit of probable cause supporting charges against Joshua Wardlaw, 21, of Pirl Street, that one of the victims allegedly told them she was with Johnathan Minnie, 27, and another woman identified only as “Victim No. 2” in the parking lot of Saloon 136 when Wardlaw opened fire about eight feet from their group with a black handgun.
Along with criminal homicide, Wardlaw was charged early Sunday with reckless endangerment and two counts each of aggravated assault and attempted homicide.
Police were called to the shooting shortly before 2 a.m.
Minnie suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Mon Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m.
The two women, both 27, were transported to local hospitals, where police said they were listed in stable condition.
Police said one of them was shot in the stomach and the other was shot multiple times in her right leg.
Their names have not been released.
One of them allegedly told police they had left the bar at 1183 Rainbow Run Road, and they were walking to a vehicle in the parking lot when Wardlaw got out of a dark vehicle with tinted windows, said “what’s up” and then started shooting.
Minnie pulled the two women to the ground while Wardlaw kept firing, according to the affidavit.
County detectives said six .40-caliber shell casings and one spent round were found at the scene.
County officials said in a statement Wardlaw is known to frequent the Donora, Monessen, McKeesport, Carroll Township and Rostraver Township areas.
Officials urged anyone who sees Wardlaw to call 911.
Those with information about his whereabouts can call the Allegheny County homicide unit at 412-473-1300.
