Strike up the band, but where and for what?
This photo from the Observer-Reporter archives was taken in 1963. That’s about all we know about it.
The symbol on the backs of the band members’ uniforms is the letter T in Old English font, so we can assume that this is the Trinity High School marching band. There is a truck equipped with loudspeakers on the far left, and a speaker on a podium is visible above the girls in the color guard who are wearing sailor caps.
But what was the occasion? Could it have been a ground-breaking ceremony for a school or shopping mall, or was this the opening of a road or the placement of a historical marker?
We are hoping some of our readers might remember the event or recognize the location.

With a little help, we’ll be able to explain this event in next Monday’s Observer-Reporter.
