Police Beat Aug. 10
Charged in crash: Rebecca Ann Murphy, 41, of 3712 Kelly Hollow Road, Monongahela, was charged last week by Bentleyville police with flight to avoid apprehension, unauthorized use of a vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash and driving under suspension after a two-vehicle crash July 28 at Main Street and Pittsburgh Road. Police said she left the scene after learning she was wanted on a warrant. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Driver charged: Matthew D. Howk, 34, of 114 Beach Drive, Charleroi, was charged last week by state police with driving under the influence of alcohol, not having a license and texting while driving following a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 70 westbound at the Bentleyville exit on July 22. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Vehicle, gun stolen: Susan Johnson of Imperial told Canonsburg police Monday her maroon Mazda 5 was stolen from the parking lot of the Hofbrau on Highland Avenue. She told police she left the vehicle overnight while she went to a residence in Houston. Inside the vehicle were her purse containing cash and credit cards, an envelope containing $220 and a Taurus .380-caliber handgun. She told police she found the envelope, minus the cash, outside the bar.
Assault arrest: Lucinda A. Harding, 53, of 5 Langer Lane, Lawrence, was arrested Monday by Cecil police on a charge of simple assault after she allegedly threw a candle at her husband, Timothy Harding, and hit him in the head with a candle holder. She was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and released.
Man jailed: Robert Egler Jr., 30, of 422 Shady Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with simple assault and harassment over allegations he grabbed his wife, Amber Egler, by the throat and threw her around their living room about 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins sent him to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Probation violation alleged: Jessica Costa, 37, of 502 Seventh St., Charleroi, is accused of violating probation by Charleroi Regional police for allegedly bringing a bottle of someone else’s drug-free urine for a drug test before her probation officer on May 24 at the Charleroi Borough Building, court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charge in a summons Monday.
Vehicle damaged: Margaret Watson of 553 Brigich Road told Chartiers police Monday all four tires on her vehicle were flattened and the trunk and a window were scratched by vandals. The gas cap also was bent.
Assault alleged: Alvin E. Kibe III, 36, of 438 Green St., North Belle Vernon, is charged by borough police with simple assault and harassment over allegations he grabbed his girlfriend, Amber Gishnock, by her neck and threw her to the floor about 6:10 p.m. Sunday at their residence, court records show. District Judge Charles Christner released Kibe on $5,000 unsecured bond Tuesday.
Mother, daughter charged: Amanda Andrews, 21, and Angela Andrews, 48, of 444 Sylvan Drive, were charged with one count each of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment stemming from an Aug. 2 incident in their residence. According to North Franklin police, Amanda Andrews, daughter of Angela Andrews, entered the home and the two argued about custody issues before striking each other several times in the face. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Charged in crash: Taylor Rae Knudson, 22, of 59 Sundust Drive, Eighty Four, was charged Monday by state police with aggravated assault by motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and several traffic violations in connection with a July 22 crash on Carlton Drive, Somerset, seriously injured her and her passenger, Daniel J. Stinebaugh. Both were taken to Pittsburgh hospitals for treatment. Police said Knudson’s blood-alcohol content was more than double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. Charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Warrant arrest: Lori Ann Hensel-Reed, 32, of 205 N. Main St., Washington, was arrested Monday by state police on a warrant stemming from a Sept. 23 traffic stop in Washington. Police said she had Suboxone and drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thompson and placed in Washington County jail on $7,500 bond.
Vehicle entered: Albert Powers of Claysville reported to Washington police someone smashed the side window of his pickup truck Sunday night or Monday morning while the truck was parked in the 200 block of Meadow Avenue. Powers said a cup of change was stolen.
Gun stolen, found: State police said a burglar entered the home of Gene Myers, 233 Garrett Road, West Bethlehem, on Friday through an open window. A gun stolen from the house was found about 50 yards from the residence.
