ATV driver injured in head-on crash with minivan in Jefferson Township

A man driving an all-terrain vehicle in Jefferson Township was seriously injured Tuesday night when he crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck by another vehicle, state police said.

Terry L. Hoyle II, 42, of Waynesburg, was driving east on Ridge Road about 7:45 p.m. when he crossed the centerline and struck a westbound minivan head-on about a quarter-mile from Spotted Pony Road, police said.

Hoyle was taken by ambulance to Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., with serious injuries, police said. A hospital spokeswoman said Hoyle was in fair condition Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of the van, Linda Bainbridge, 55, of Crucible, suffered a minor injury, police said

Jefferson Township firefighters and Southwest EMS medics assisted state police at the scene.
