Central Greene School Board eliminates librarian position
WAYNESBURG – Central Greene School Board decided Tuesday night to eliminate a librarian position, but no one was laid off.
Both the middle and high schools had librarians, but the board eliminated those positions and created one librarian position that will be shared by both schools.
Melissa Wilson, president of the teachers’ union, said the middle school librarian position was already vacant.
The board had discussed eliminating both positions as a cost-saving measure before they passed the budget in June.
Wilson said contract negotiations between the board and the teachers union were scheduled for Wednesday night. The teachers have been without a contract since last summer.
