Nineteen members of the 4-H Rabbit Club competed in the Greene County Fair’s rabbit show Tuesday, showing more than 250 rabbits that will be on display in the rabbit barn for the rest of the week. Alexus Grecoe, second from right, won best in show for her Dutch rabbit, and Hannah Cole, second from left, won reserve in show for her California rabbit. They are pictured with Greene County Fair Queen Lindsey Gilbert and judges Hannah Means and Tom Schweikart. Gilbert also received the annual “Rabbit Leadership Scholarship” from retired 4-H Leaders Melody Longstreth and Amber Mankey. The $500 scholarship is for club members who have completed at least three years of the rabbit project and are still a member in the year they graduate high school. The private fund was started in 2012 and the first scholarships were awarded in 2013.
