Fire severely damages New Freeport home
Fire caused severe damage Friday afternoon to a house in New Freeport.
New Freeport Volunteer Fire Company was called to the residence, a double-wide mobile home, in the 100 block of Main Street about 1 p.m.
No one was home when the fire started, New Freeport fire Chief Alan Shipman said. The name of the property owner was not available Monday. The American Red Cross reported it was providing assistance, including lodging, to two adults.
Shipman said the fire started in the kitchen and caused extensive damage to the kitchen and living room. The state police fire marshal was called to investigate.
New Freeport firefighters were assisted by fire companies from Center, Richhill and Wayne townships, and Hundred, W.Va., and Wadestown, W.Va.
