A Washington man was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment after he was shot once in the stomach inside a home in the city’s West End.

City police were called about 10 p.m. Saturday to 725 Fayette Street for a report that a man had been shot. When officers arrived, they found 38-year-old Hirunda Keith “Day” Wallace on the living room floor holding his stomach. Police said he was conscious and talking. A single 9 mm shell casing was on the floor near his feet.

One of the people who was in the house at the time reported hearing a gunshot. When she ran down the steps, she said she saw two men running from the house.

Neighbors told police that several cars were parked on the street in the area of the home.

Wallace will be charged this week by a Washington County Drug Task Force detective with possession and possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of paraphernalia.

Wallace had been under investigation by task force detectives for several months earlier this year for his alleged role in the trafficking of crack in and around the city.

The task force obtained a search warrant March 24 from Washington County Court Judge Michael Lucas for Wallace and his home at 95 Sumner Ave. During the search, detectives said they found cocaine, a large amount of cash and a digital scale. The findings are indicative of the intent to deliver cocaine, according to the affidavit against Wallace.

The charges will be filed at the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
