University to host 300 Boy Scouts at event
Waynesburg University’s fourth annual Merit Badge University in October will provide Boy Scouts with the opportunity to earn merit badges while being exposed to a wide spectrum of academic disciplines by faculty and staff at the university.
The one-day event Saturday, Oct. 29, will take place on Waynesburg’s campus from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will offer 21 merit badges, including American Heritage, Chemistry, Entrepreneurship, Graphic Arts, Indian Lore, Crime Prevention/Fingerprinting and Personal Management.
The day includes lunch, a Class B shirt, a patch and instruction by Waynesburg University faculty.
Adult participants who plan to attend merit badge sessions must be in Class A/Field Uniform and must present evidence of their Boy Scouts registration and current Youth Protection Training. Only 30 adult participants will be permitted to participate in the event.
Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations.
The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and develops personal fitness.
