Two sentenced in Greene County Court on DUI charges
Two men who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence were sentenced last week by Greene County Judge Lou Dayich.
Paul Andrew Hewitt, 53, of Nemacolin, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, second offense in 10 years; and one summary traffic violation. Hewitt was arrested Jan. 9 following a traffic stop by Cumberland Township police. He had blood-alcohol content level of 0.142 percent. A blood test also indicated he had Hydrocodone, morphine and Dihrocodeine in his system. Hewitt was sentenced to 30 days to 6 months in jail. He was permitted to serve his sentence on weekends. He also was fined $325 and must perform 60 hours of community service.
Douglas Lee Palmer, 55, of 114 Fish Pot Road, Fredericktown, pleaded guilty to DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana and two summary traffic violations. Arrested Aug. 30, 2015, following a traffic stop in Cumberland Township, Palmer had a BAC of 0.241 percent. Palmer was sentenced to 5 days to 6 months in jail, fined $400 and ordered to perform 25 hours of community service.
