Canonsburg police arrest Cecil man on assault, resisting charges
A Cecil Township man was arrested Monday night by Canonsburg police after he reportedly caused a disturbance in an East Pike Street parking lot and then struggled with officers.
Police were called about 5 p.m. to the parking lot of 43 E. Pike St., for a report of an intoxicated man trying to flee from ambulance personnel in his vehicle. The ambulance had been called for an unresponsive man in a car slumped over the steering wheel.
When police arrived they found Daniel Joseph Golinski, 31, of 21 Overbrook Lane, Cecil, maneuvering his car in the lot trying to get around an ambulance that had parked behind it.
Officer Scott Bashioum parked his cruiser and started to walk toward the car while Officer Brian DaPra pulled up to the driver’s side and activated the emergency lights on his cruiser as Golinski continued to back up.
Golinski reportedly ignored orders to stay inside the vehicle. Once out of the car, he ignored orders to turn and face the vehicle, police said. He clenched his fists and started yelling at police. When he continued to resist, police used a Taser and he went to the ground.
After he was placed in the holding cell at the station, he reportedly punched the wall and kicked the cell door and a chair. While being transported to the Washington County jail for arraignment, he kicked the inside of the cruiser and damaged a handle.
Police from Chartiers and North Strabane townships also assisted.
Golinski was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, driving under the influence of alcohol, public drunkenness and criminal mischief. He was placed in jail on $15,000 bond. Golinski is scheduled for an Aug. 31 preliminary hearing before District Judge David Mark.
