A West Virginia woman was arrested early Thursday by Washington police on gun and drug charges after they got a report that she was waving a gun in the 900 block of Jefferson Avenue.

Patrisha Marie Fleming, 31, of Mannington, faces charges of carrying a firearm without a license and possession of a controlled substance.

A passing motorist called police just before 12:30 a.m. to report seeing the woman waving the gun outside Wink’s Barber and Tattoo Shop, 978 Jefferson Ave. When Cpl. Jack Hancock arrived, he looked through the front window of the business and could see several people inside.

Hancock knocked on the door. The owner of the shop, Tom Buckels, opened the door and Hancock explained why he was there. Three people, including Fleming, were seated at a table. Fleming looked at Hancock and quickly reached down to the seat of her chair, the officer said.

As he was explaining why he was there, Hancock said he noticed syringes on the table and floor. Fleming was asked to stand up. Police said she reached between her legs and produced a .380-caliber Kel-Tec semiautomatic handgun that she turned over to Sgt. John Lindley. Police said she did not have a permit to carry the gun. Police said they also found her with 30 Diazepam pills that were wrapped in plastic and hidden inside her shirt.

Hancock also noted the business did not appear to be legitimate. Buckels repotedly told police he would be closing it.

Fleming was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. She faces a Sept. 7 before Redlinger.
