Fire damages Canton Township home
No injuries were reported in a house fire early Monday in Canton Township. The fire at 65 Veltri Drive broke out about 12:30 a.m., hours after the homeowner left for work.
Canton fire Chief Dave Gump said flames started in the basement.
“It had to be burning for some time before someone saw it,” Gump said. “It burned all the way through the house.”
Gump said crews worked for about an hour to get the fire under control. Damage was extensive, he said.
South Strabane Township and Washington fire departments assisted at the scene. A state fire marshal is investigating.
