False alarm charge: Robyn P. Lancaster, 20, of Uniontown, is charged with setting off a false fire alarm Friday at Vulcan Village apartments. Borough police said Lancaster set off an alarm about 2 a.m., causing a response from California Volunteer Fire Department and the evacuation of building No. 4. Lancaster also was charged with violating a borough ordinance by hosting a large party.
Stealing checks: Paul Joseph McGavitt, 28, of 240 N. College St., Washington, faces charges of theft and receiving stolen property for a March 21 incident in which Washington Hospital security found three personal checks belonging to Subramoniam Jayakumar with McGavitt’s name in the pay-to section, South Strabane police said, and he had illegally acquired them. McGavitt was placed in the Washington County jail Monday on $2,500 bond.
Warrant arrest: El-Hajj Turner, 23, of 750 Fayette St., Washington, was placed in Washington County jail Sunday on a state parole violation. Washington police said Turner provided a false name when he was located at the Eighth Ward playground.
Apartment entered: A Jollick Manor resident reported to Washington police she found an unknown man on her couch when she entered her apartment Friday. The man fled on foot. No items were reported stolen.
Window smashed: Jason Thompson reported to police a man he didn’t know picked up a large piece of wood and broke the windshield of his automobile Friday as it was parked on Donnan Avenue.
Materials stolen: Washington police received a complaint that roofing materials worth $1,800 were stolen from 716 W. Chestnut St.
