Charleroi woman arrested after investigation
A Charleroi woman was arrested Thursday night on drug and receiving stolen property charges stemming from an investigation by Charleroi Regional police and the Washington County Drug Task Force.
Rachel Marie Behanna, 32, of 417 Meadow Ave., was arrested on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of paraphernalia and receiving stolen property.
Police said they had her home under surveillance and that she is known to sell narcotics. When she left the home about 10 p.m. Thursday, police followed her. She also was followed by a task force detective.
When she stopped on Second Street, a man approached her car. She opened the door to get out and the man walked away. Behanna then sped off. Police stopped her in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant, and a man could be heard on the cellphone telling her to hide everything and not let police find it, police said.
Behanna reportedly gave police permission to search her home. Police said they then obtained a search warrant after they spotted two bricks of heroin in the home. They also reported finding additional heroin in the bedroom, including some of the drug in a safe. Police said they found 111 stamp bags in the car and another 111 bags inside the residence.
Behanna was arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins and placed in Washington County Jail on $250,000 bond.
