GOP committee elects officers
Washington County Republican Committee elected Mark Hrutkay of California Borough as its chairman in a meeting Sunday at Lone Pine Country Club.
Hrutkay, a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, is director of human resources for Consol Energy. During the recent election, Hrutkay was active in the Secure Energy for America voters guide, which generated more than 25,000 online pledges in Western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.
First vice chairman is Dr. Richard Martin of Centerville, who holds a doctorate in public administration from West Virginia University. He retired from public schools and has consulted in education, industry and government. He worked on behalf of the Donald Trump presidential campaign and Bud Cook and Betsy Rohanna McClure legislative campaigns.
Second vice chairman is David Ball of Peters Township, who is serving his third term as an elected councilman. An engineering graduate of Lehigh University who holds a master’s of business administration degree from Duquesne University, Ball is a retired steel executive who has 39 years of experience in industrial operations, manufacturing and information technology. As an adjunct professor, he has taught at Duquesne’s School of Business.
Secretary is Jessica Wickard of North Strabane Township. She is co-founder of the nonprofit group, Circle of Light, and a member of Washington County Children and Youth Services agency advisory board.
Treasurer is Angela Carrier of Peters Township, who ran for Washington County controller in 2013 and is the owner of a travel business.
