Police beat Dec. 14
Harassment charge: Marquette Vaden, 22, of Uniontown, faces a harassment charge after he allegedly got into an argument Monday with a woman at 40 Bel Air Drive and pulled her arm and hair, state police said.
Woman charged: Amber Sue Everly, 30, of 213 Frick St., Hiller, is charged by state police with theft and access device fraud over allegations she withdrew $260 from a bank account of an Ellsworth woman in her care without her permission between Nov. 9 and 14, court records show. Police filed the charges Monday before District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Hit-and-run charges: Frank A. Powell, 50, of 19 Woodlawn Ave., Uniontown, is charged by state police with accidents involving damages to a vehicle and duty to give information to police over allegations a vehicle he was driving struck a vehicle Sept. 9 at 8 McIlvane Road and then left the scene, court records show. Police filed the charges Monday before District Judge Curtis Thompson.
Assault alleged: Gregg Still, 58, of 245 1/2 Duncan Ave., Washington, is charged by city police with simple assault and harassment over allegations he punched his wife, Jennifer, in the face in their residence about 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, court records show. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Ethan Ward.
Vandalism: The owner of St. Petersburg Center of Valley Brook Road reported Monday that someone spray-painted a Bobcat utility work machine and a building that is under construction. Damage is estimated at $1,500.
Knives stolen: Police said two men stole a pair of hunting knives with a total value of $81.40 from the sporting goods section of Kmart, 4041 Washington Road, in an incident reported at 4:51 p.m. Friday. The men have been identified, and the investigation continues.
Disorderly conduct: Police were called to Bill Gray Volvo, 2897 Washington Road, at 4:04 p.m. Thursday following a physical altercation in the parking lot between a customer and an employee. The suspect, who left the scene, has been identified, and charges are pending, police said.
Retail theft: The loss-prevention manager at Kmart, 4041 Washington Road, apprehended an employee at 2:39 p.m. Thursday for allegedly attempting to steal perfume and other items with an approximate value of $90, according to police. Jason Hartley, 39, of Coal Center was charged with retail theft.
Driver injured: A woman was transported to Canonsburg Hospital following an accident at 4:25 p.m. Dec. 7 at East McMurray and Center Church roads. Janice Bevan, 73, of Peters Township complained of chest pain and an eye injury after the vehicle she was driving was involved in a collision with a vehicle operated by a 16-year-old boy.
‘Grandson’ scam: A Druid Drive resident reported being contacted by a person who claimed that the resident’s grandson had been involved in an accident and needed $2,000 for an “attorney fee to get the grandson out of trouble,” police said.
Trailer, straw blower stolen: An Aston Court resident reported Dec. 4 that an International trailer, valued at $4,000, and a Goosen straw blower, valued at $4,800, had been stolen from property he owns in the 4000 block of Washington Road.
Drug arrest: During a traffic stop at 2:25 p.m. Dec. 5 in the 2500 block of East McMurray Road, an officer detected a strong odor of marijuana, and a search revealed a small amount of the suspected substance, police said. The driver, Shayne Murphy, 21, of Chartiers Township will be charged by summons with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Suspicious vehicle: Police responded at 9 a.m. Dec. 5 to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Rock Run Road. After police stopped the driver, they said he consented to a search of the vehicle, and paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana were found. Charges of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia will be sent by summons to Aaron McConville, 20, of Carroll Township.
Thefts from vehicles: Items were stolen from two vehicles parked in a driveway in the 300 block of Buckingham Drive. The incident was reported at 4:07 p.m. Dec. 3.
Multiple charges: A traffic stop at 12:14 a.m. Dec. 3 in the 3900 block of Washington Road resulted in the driver being charged with speeding, driving under a suspended license and possession of a small amount of marijuana. Police said Anthony Shadeck, 28, of Canton Township, will be charged by summons.
